Before we dive into the meat of the latest leak, it’s important to remember that this is firmly a rumor at this point. We’ve reached out for comment to a few of our insiders and the source is one that has a hit or miss track record in the pass. As we mention with all coverage we offer in terms of leaks and rumors, we advise our readers to take everything with a grain of salt – no matter how plausible – until the studio itself confirms the news. This goes for all leaks of all caliber, not just regarding Ragnarok.

Now, to dive in! The latest Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok rumor hails from one YouTuber that claims that the Ragnarok reports are all false. According to Jonathan, the next Assassin’s Creed game will be centered around Vikings but the name of the title is all wrong. He also mentioned that like Odyssey, players will be able to choose between a male or a female protagonist though he did debunk the Jora rumor about the main character.

One thing that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was hailed for went beyond the protagonist choices, it also came down to the RPG changes made to the title’s overall design. Players could choose how they responded to certain situations. They could play the diplomat or the sarcastic wanderer, and they can even choose to romance various characters seen throughout Odyssey as well. It’s those RPG elements that is said to carry on into ‘Ragnarok’ and according to various reports, not just from this YouTuber, that Ubisoft saw the positive reception and is looking to push the future of the franchise even further into the realm of Role-Playing.

In the above tweets, he also mentions that the Secret Blade will also be making a return as well as Origins’ shield in addition to the tid-bit that Scandanavia won’t be the only point of interest that Assassin’s Creed players will be able to explore.

While the franchise as a whole hit a snag in terms of public perception, most notably with the Unity backlash, the most recent entries with Odyssey and Origins turned that opinion right around with many saying Odyssey was the revival that the series needed. While the community seems dividing on whether they wanted Vikings or Japan next, it’s hard to deny that the next step, if proven true, is going to hit that sweet spot for many.
