Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath offers the game’s first story expansion and will take players right back to the beginning where Lui Kang successfully halted Kronika’s attempts to permanently change time. Joined by Raiden, Lui Kang’s ritual gets a surprise interruption when Shang Tsung rolls up Nightwolf and Fujin in an effort to warn them against fixing what has been done to this world.

According to NetherRealm, “Shang Tsung explains that they were Kronika’s prisoners, released only upon her death, and they’ve come to stop Liu Kang from making a deadly mistake. During Liu Kang’s final battle with Kronika, he destroyed her Crown. If he tries to restart history without it, both the Hourglass and reality will be destroyed. All realms will be lost.” This journey will continue 11’s showcase that nothing is as it seems and we’ll see exactly what Kronika’s damage has touched and what will be irreparable.

Longtime fans will also see a ton of familiar features as well, including the return of the Dead Pool stage. As for when the expansion arrives, Aftermath is slated for a May 26th release. For those that preorder on the PlayStation 4, there’ is also an awesome new dynamic theme that features Raiden and Liu Kang as well! Who doesn’t like free?
