Monster Hunter 4 Coming With Nintendo-Oriented Player Skins

Slay that beast wearing Mario or Link's outfits.

As promised, Nintendo held a special edition of its Nintendo Direct series that focused on the forthcoming Monster Hunter 4 from Capcom, which will release in just a couple weeks’ time in Japan for the 3DS.

Some new footage was shown from the game, but perhaps the big news was the announcement of special skins based on popular Nintendo characters. You’ll be able to play while dressed as Mario and Luigi from the Super Mario games, as well as Link from The Legend of Zelda series. If you go with the latter, you’ll gain access to his special sword and shield, perfect for slaying monsters with.

The Mario and Luigi Felyne costumes will be offered exclusively through Japanese 7-11 stores as part of a promotion, while the Link gear will be available as downloadable content from day one.

Unfortunately, there’s no word on a U.S. release for Monster Hunter 4 yet, but considering the popularity of Monster Hunter 3 for both 3DS and Wii U, it shouldn’t be too far off.
