Not only does Microsoft have various sales going on over the holidays to give you something to have some holiday cheer about, but they’re also providing an extraordinary gift to Minecraft fans – a documentary that has its own little story to tell.
Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb announced today that this Saturday, December 22nd (AFTER the world ends, natch), Xbox Live will be the premiere hub for Minecraft: The Story of Mojang, which will be available at no charge for all Xbox Live Gold subscribers.
The movie tells the story of Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson after he rises to the top with the release of his hit game in 2011, and explores what happens to a video game company following its success – in this case, the publishers at Mojang. Those of you who like a good video game documentary, like The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters and Tilt: The Story of Pinball, would be wise to check it out.
We’ve included the trailer here so you can get a good idea of what to expect from the documentary. Enjoy and happy holidays!
