Markus “Notch” Persson, the creator of the legendary (and quite popular) PC game, ahs announced through his Twitter that the Xbox Live Arcade version of the game, which launched back on May 7, has already sold three million digital copies.  Said Notch, “I got told Minecraft for XBLA passed three million sales today!”  Simple as that.

The game has gone through a lot in getting to console, but has opened up to rave reviews and a huge community of builders who have created some rather nifty stuff with the game over the last two and a half months.  And with the latest patch (V 1.73) already uploaded, there are significantly less bugs in the game, something would-be world dwellers should be most pleased about.

Congrats to Notch and his team.  Um, we can has expansions?

You can get Minecraft now for $20 (1600 Microsoft points) on Xbox Live Arcade.
