Believe it or not, there are a lot of folks out there who still have the basic Xbox Live silver subscription, without seeing what the “big deal” is with an upgrade to Gold. But this weekend should make a bit of difference for them, as Microsoft has announced a free Xbox Live Gold weekend for a variety of countries, including the United States.
From now until Sunday, December 2nd, you’ll be able to access all the Gold services free of charge, including online multiplayer in games like Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Halo 4, as well as various Gold-exclusive downloadable demos, such as the recently released DMC: Devil May Cry demo. You’ll also be able to explore various services, including Video Kinect, Internet Explorer, Last.FM and Netflix.
Remember, it is just for the next couple of days, but it really gives you an idea of what the service is all about. Don’t be surprised if you’re asking for an Xbox Live Gold membership for Christmas when it’s all said and done.
