Michael Fassbender, the guy you may know from films such as X-Men and Prometheus, has been cast in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie.
Fassbender is to play the hero of the title, reports Variety.
Rumor has it the film will be based on the first game of the series, which would make Altair the hero.
“Michael Fassbender was our first choice,” Ubisoft Motion Pictures boss Jean-Julien Baronnet revealed. “Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”
Fassbender is also reported to be a producer the movie, using his company DMC film. The film was previously halted when Sony claimed that demands from Ubisoft were “ridiculous”.
Sony may proceed with distribution once a director and writer have committed to the film, Ubisoft has said.
“We’re open to re-discuss with the key studios once the production package is finalized,” Baronnet explained. “Whatever the financial model, Ubisoft Motion Pictures will limit its risk investment.”
