Previously, players could only get their hands on these DLCs using BioWare Points, which was an annoying extra step for PC players to go through. An official email has been sent to players (as well as posted on the official subreddit) to notify them about the change. The now free BioWare content includes most DLC available for games like Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, And Dragon Age: Origins.

It should be noted that the exception to change is DLC packs for Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer. These are currently still available to buy with BioWare Points until October 11, which is when the currency will be officially discontinued. Players can use in-game credits to unlock Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer packs after this date. EA also mentioned that other BioWare game currencies, like Platinum and Crystals, are unaffected by the changes.

A brighter future for BioWare and its IPs

The future of BioWare RPGs is looking much brighter these days thanks to recent news regarding its upcoming games. The next entry in the Dragon Age series was recently confirmed to be Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. BioWare claims that it wants the new game to be welcoming to all players, irrespective of their experience with the Dragon Age franchise.

When it comes to the next mainline Mass Effect entry, we recently heard that BioWare hired a talented new writer. The RPG studio hired Mary DeMarle to take on the role of senior narrative director. DeMarle is known for working at Eidos-Montréal on games like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and the Deux Ex series.
