Madden NFL is one of the most popular video game franchises in the world and not only when it comes to sports games. The popularity of the football franchise is why plenty of players were excited to see that Madden NFL 21 will be coming to the Xbox Series X when it launches. Fortunately, those who purchase the next entry in the sports game franchise will not have to worry about dishing out more cash to upgrade to the next generation of the console.

Players who get Madden NFL 21 for the Xbox One will automatically get the Xbox Series X version of the game when they upgrade to the next-generation console. This is thanks to the platform's Smart Delivery feature which allows those who buy a game on this current-generation console to get it for the newer platform without having to rebuy it.

The announcement of Madden NFL 21 coming to the Xbox Series X was made during the Inside Xbox presentation that took place on Thursday, May 7th, by Super Bowl MVP and last year's cover star Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

“The development teams at EA are always pushing the envelope to leverage new technology in exciting ways that benefit their fans, and we’re thrilled by the work they’ve done in optimizing Madden NFL 21 for Xbox Series X,” said Sarah Bond, Head of Xbox Partnerships and Business Development. “We’re delighted to be partners as we usher in the next generation of gaming.”

Those who would like to have the Xbox Series X version of Madden NFL 21 waiting for them when they get the new console will need to purchase the next entry in the franchise on Xbox One by December 31st, 2020 and upgrade to the next-generation console by March 31st, 2021.
