Valve have detailed downloadable content for their ever-popular co-op zombie FPS Left 4 Dead, it’s to be titled the L4D Survival Pack and will be out this spring.
The add-on will give players a whole new multiplayer mode named Survival, and an extra two campaigns for the versus mode. It’s to be released for both the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
Also coming out for PC L4D players is the Software Development Kit, a free download, which will allow modders to start creating their own campaigns, which, when finished, will work with the matchmaking system already in the game.
The content will all come bundled in the Critic’s Choice Edition of the game, set to be released simultaneously.
“With Half-Life and Counter-Strike, and more recently Team Fortress 2, we’ve learned that we’re no longer making stand-alone games but creating entertainment services,” said Valve boss Gabe Newell, warming to one of his favourite themes.
“With Left 4 Dead we’re extending that tradition by creating additional gameplay and releasing our internal tools to aspiring developers so they may also create and distribute new Left 4 Dead experiences.”
We don’t know how much the DLC or the Critic’s Choice editions will be, and we only have guesses as to what the Survival mode will be so keep checking back here for information as we get it.
