The Last Of Us Part II Release Date Reveal Could Be Soon As Development Comes to an End

The Last of Us Part II director teased the end of development, which means we might finally be getting a release date soon.

A report earlier this month stated that a Last of Us Part II release date announcement was imminent prior to E3 2019. Now a recent tweet by the game’s director seems to be supporting the earlier rumor and co-director Anthony Newman opened up about the current state of development.

In the below tweet, Newman reveals the positions that they are currently hiring for. Though it may look like a lot, these positions seem to be geared towards polishing, especially since the motion capture has been wrapped up for a little bit now. Though Newman doesn’t explicitly say they are ready for a reveal, the “close out” terminology bodes well when comparing to the numerous leaks and industry insight about the game since February.

For now, all we have is speculation and our hopes and dreams. With Sony planning their own event outside of E3 this June, it’s possible we will be learning more then – or Naughty Dog might just go full-on Rockstar and just surprise everyone out of the blue. At this point, we’ll take anything we get as long as a release date is set.

While we still don’t have a release date at this time, you can learn more about the game according to the title’s official synopsis here:  “Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships. When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits.”
