The Last Of Us Part II Announcement Reportedly Coming Before E3, 2019 Release

According to a recent report, The Last Of Us Part II is releasing this year with an announcement ahead of E3.

Sony decided to opt out of E3 this year, pulling out of the expo for the first time in PlayStation history. The news dashed fan hopes of exciting new reveals and a possible release date reveal for The Last of Us Part II, though it looks like the latter won’t be impacted after all.

A known, and respected, leaker took to ResetEra recently to divulge alleged details about the Sony exclusive. Aokiji, a leaker that has had some pretty heavy wins in the past, talked about the Last of Us Part II having a 2019 release date as well as a “huge” announcement ahead of E3. He’s not the first to mention a 2019 release, in fact, many well-known industry personalities have said the same thing including former IGN journalist Alanah Pearce.

Pairing the potential for another reveal for the upcoming sequel with that of Hideo Kojima’s earlier tease of a new trailer for Death Stranding dropping soon, it looks like Sony won’t be negatively impacted by their E3 no-show. There are definitely a lot of people anxious to learn more about what the PlayStation powerhouse has up their sleeves both with new releases and previously known games on the horizon.

For now, it’s all just speculation, though hopefully Sony will have more to reveal soon about the PlayStation 4 exclusive.

For more about the game according to the game’s official synopsis, “Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships. When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits.”
