Hitman 3 Exclusive to Epic Games Store For Limited Time

That might be one long year for some fans.

Fans were excited to see Hitman 3 officially revealed earlier this summer, and were even more thrilled when it was disclosed that the entire trilogy will be playable in VR. That said, it has now been noted that when the game arrives early next year, it will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC.

While this may make or break some fans’ plans of buying the game, it is not always going to be exclusive to the Epic Games Store. The title is set to arrive in January 2021 and will remain on Epic’s platform for 12 months, after which it will likely go to Steam and other digital platforms. In addition to the timed-exclusive third entry, it has also been revealed that Hitman, the first entry in the current trilogy, will be free on the Epic Games Store from August 27th until September 3rd.

But wait, there’s more. IOI has also revealed a new location that players will be taking to when Hitman 3 arrives next year. The Thornbridge Mystery will take players to Dartmoor, England to uncover, well… the mystery of Thornbridge.

Getting back to players on PC, some have expressed their disappointment with the timed-exclusivity, especially considering they’ve already got the first two titles in the series on Steam. Luckily, IOI has confirmed that players will be able to carry progression and unlocks over from Hitman 2 on Steam to Hitman 3 on Epic Games Store. Additionally, players will be able to import locations from the first two entries in the trilogy to the upcoming installment as IOI wants to make this as seamless as possible for fans.

The developers have also stated how working with Epic has helped them create the game they want. “As an independent studio, our partnership with Epic has given us the freedom to create HITMAN 3 exactly as we imagined and self-publish the game to our players directly,” reads a post from IOI. “It’s also important to us that we honour the time our existing PC players have spent in our previous games.”

That said, with Hitman 3 coming to the platform in January, and Hitman being available for free next week, it makes wonder if Hitman 2 will also be coming to the Epic Games Store to round out the World of Assassination trilogy. Only the first and third entries are currently listed in their store, so we will have to wait and see if the second one will be joining them.
