Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection and Capcom Arcade Stadium Bring More Retro Radness to Nintendo Switch

Holy crap, Cyberbots???
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

During The Game Awards 2020, Capcom appeared to make some new announcements for the Nintendo Switch. And neither of them had anything to do with Monster Hunter! Of course, there was also Monster Hunter later, with the announcement of a demo coming in January 2021 for Monster Hunter Rise. But on to the stuff I’m more personally excited about. First, Sir Arthur and his undergarments are back with Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection, which is being presented as a reboot for the series. A “free” download called Capcom Arcade Stadium was also revealed.

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is slated to launch for the Nintendo Switch on February 15, 2021. Featuring an art style reminiscent of medieval puppet shows, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection appears to be a totally new, standalone game based on the original sidescrollers rather than a more direct remake. There are plenty of reappearing characters, but as you can see in the above footage, even more brand new levels, enemies, hazards, and more.

Capcom Arcade Stadium is a familiar effort for Capcom, at least if you’ve been keeping up with mobile gaming over the years. The app itself is free, and it comes with 1943 – Battle for Midway playable out of the gate. Other games are purchasable in DLC packs, and 32 of them will be included. No word on what the pricing structure is yet, but the game collection includes what you’d expect, including the likes of Street Fighter and Final Fight. It also includes some real deep cuts, such as Cyberbots and Battle Circuit! Both games already have pages up on Nintendo’s website, so you can already check out some early information. There’s no hard release date for Capcom Arcade Stadium, but it will be joining Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection in February.
