Gears 5 Gets New Trailer And Halo Reach Crossover

Halo Reach is invading Gears 5 following a special new trailer during Gamescom 2019.

As promised, 343 Industries had a little something new to share for Halo fans when it comes to their 2020 entry Halo Infinite. In addition to a brand new trailer, we also got our first look at how one mainstay Xbox franchise is invading another with Halo Reach. First things first though, that new trailer:

The latest trailer is all about Kait and her story, a character we first met in Gears of War 4 (you know, before the game’s name got shorter). According to The Coalition’s Rod Fergusson, the latest Gears adventure is about dualism and how every story has two sides. He also mentioned that this story was no longer about finding the monsters, instead the focus is on “oh, shit, they’re here.”

According to the latest trailer’s official synopsis, “The world is crumbling. Humanity’s reliance on technology has become their downfall and enemies are uniting to wipe out all survivors. As Kait, you must journey across the biggest, most beautiful Gears world to uncover the origins of the Locust, and fight with your squad to protect what’s next.”

In addition to the latest video, we also learned that Halo Reach’s Emile-A239 and Kat-B320 have officially joined the fight – at least in the game’s Horde mode. The two crossover characters will be available in the Halo Reach character back which players that buy the Ultimate Edition will get automatically.

As for the game itself, Gears 5 and all of its Halo glory is poised for an Xbox One and PC release on September 10th.
