July is almost a wrap and as we go into the month of August, the free Xbox Games With Gold lineup has ben revealed. Each month, Xbox fans get a chance to snag a few free copies of games spanning across the generations with the Live membership. Unlike PlayStation, Xbox offers four free games per month and while not always a hit, you can’t so no to free. 

Free Xbox Games With Gold August 2020

For the month of August, players get a little bit of everything. We’ve got cuteness with Portal Knights, we’ve got racing (ish) with MX Unleashed, which was a huge favorite on the original Xbox. We’ve also got some shooting and destroying action with Red Faction II, and conquering the skies with Override Mech City Brawl. 

• Portal Knights ($19.99 ERP): Available August 1 to 31 on Xbox One
• Override: Mech City Brawl ($29.99 ERP): Available August 16 to September 15 on Xbox One
• MX Unleashed ($14.99 ERP): Available August 1 to 15 on Xbox One & Xbox 360
• Red Faction II ($14.99 ERP): Available August 16 to 31 on Xbox One & Xbox 360

Personally, we can’t recommend Red Faction II enough. This game was incredible back in the day and the fact that it is backwards compatible is amazing. Players can work towards taking out a corrupt dictator following 5 years after a Mars rebellion begun. Fighting against super-soldiers, players get to be the homing beacon of hope when it comes to taking out this corruption once and for all. 

A few choices never hurt but it’s important to remember that none of these free games can be claimed unless an Xbox Live Membership is active.
