Fortnite’s Newest Driveable Car is a Ferrari 296 GTB

Say goodbye to the Whiplash, and hello to the Ferrari 296 GTB.

In an interesting, and somewhat unexpected announcement, it was revealed that a new driveable car is being added to Fortnite. Unlike the game’s other driveable vehicles like the Prevalent, this one is based on a real car model… the Ferrari 296 GTB.

With the addition of the Ferrari 296 GTB comes the retirement of Fortnite’s other sports car, the Whiplash.

Fortnite’s Newest Driveable Car is a Ferrari 296 GTB

Epic Games is no stranger to unique partnerships, making it hard to predict what we’re going to see next in Fortnite. We had the addition of LeBron James as a wearable Outfit in Fortnite, and now we have the addition of the Ferrari 296 GTB.

With this new arrival, Fortnite players will be able to drive the Ferrari 296 GTB around the map and complete Week 7 Challenges including, “Reach Maximum Speed in a Ferrari.” The Ferrari 296 GTB replaces Fortnite’s previous driveable sports car, the Whiplash.

If you’re a big Ferrari fan, you can also indulge yourself in the Item Shop where you’ll find the new Ferrari Bundle. Included in the Ferrari Bundle are the following items:

  • Modena Icon Outfit
  • Maranello Racer Outfit
  • Ferrari Turbo Back Bling

The complete Ferrari Bundle is priced at 1,400 V-Bucks right now, while the individual outfits are 800 V-Bucks a piece, and the Ferrari Turbo Back Bling is 400 V-Bucks when purchased on its own.

If you’re curious about the car itself, you can view information about it on Ferrari’s official website.

“The 296 GTB, an evolution of Ferrari’s mid-rear-engined two-seater sports berlinetta concept, represents a revolution for the Maranello-based company as it introduces the new 120° V6 engine coupled with a plug-in (PHEV) electric motor capable of delivering up to 830 cv.”

And, as expected from a Ferrari, it’s fast. Really, really fast.

“The 296 GTB is the first Ferrari road car fitted with a 120°, 6-cylinder turbo engine. The engine structure means that the turbochargers can fit within the “Vee”.

This increases its compactness, lowers its center of gravity, reduces its mass, and helps it achieve extraordinarily high power levels (663 cv). The new Ferrari V6 sets a record of 221 hp/l for specific torque output for a production car.”

All in all we’re excited to see the 296 GTB make an appearance as a driveable vehicle in Fortnite alongside the Ferrari Bundle in the Item Shop. We’re curious to see whether Epic Games will partner with other car companies in the future to add other real vehicles to the game.

If Epic were to partner with more car companies in the future, what other vehicles would you like to see added to Fortnite? Let us know on our social media channels including Facebook and Twitter
