Fortnite players can look forward to picking up a new shotgun in Battle Royale soon, according to Epic Games. The Heavy Shotgun makes its debut in Fortnite Update v3.3.1, which is scheduled to arrive sometime tomorrow, March 22. The update will also introduce a new trap called the Flame Grill Floor Trap to Save the World.

Epic initially teased the upcoming release of the Heavy Shotgun on Fortnite’s in-game update screen today. Upon loading up the game, the update screen states that Heavy Shotguns will have increased range and are “coming soon”.

A follow-up tweet from the official Fortnite Twitter account clarified that the Heavy Shotgun will be coming to Fortnite on March 22. The tweet also mentions a new trap for Save the World called the Flame Grill Floor Trap, which sounds like it may have some sort of fire effect.

Currently, there are two types of shotguns available in Fortnite Battle Royale, the Tactical Shotgun and the Pump Shotgun. The Tactical Shotgun features a high rate of fire, while the Pump Shotgun has higher damage output.

With the forthcoming Heavy Shotgun in Fortnite, shotgun enthusiasts will now have a better way to strike down foes at medium range while still being able to defend themselves in close quarters. It’s unclear what rarity levels the Heavy Shotgun will have, but since there are currently no shotguns that go up to Legendary rarity, there’s a good chance the Heavy Shotgun will be the first.

Alongside the Heavy Shotgun announcement, Epic Games also revealed a new Fortnite Replay System during GDC today, which will allow players to record and review gameplay from previous matches as well as edit their own highlights using cinematic features.

Although the new Fortnite Replay System was built with content creators in mind, the editing tools should be accessible and easy enough for every player to use.

We’ll let you know more about the Heavy Shotgun once the patch notes are release for Fortnite Update v.3.3.1, so be sure to check back here for details. For more on Fortnite, head over to our Fortnite Battle Royale Guide.
