Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie Finally has a Release Date, and it’s Closer Than You Think

In October of last year, the Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) movie was announced. And while longtime fans went absolutely wild with this information, not much has been heard from Blumhouse Productions since. Until last night.

On April 5, Jason Blum, founder of Blumhouse, announced on Twitter that FNAF will be hitting theaters on October 27. That’s just in time to get together your overly complex Springtrap costume in order so you can terrify all your friends and neighbors on Halloween.

Earlier this year, one Twitter user posted images of what looks like the FNAF set (if the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place sign is any indicator) in New Orleans. They noted filming continued until March 2, and on March 6 the set was torn down.

Kat Sterling, an actress, tweeted on April 4 that filming had concluded. A fan asked what happens to the animatronics now that the filming is over. She responded, “We release them into the wild. Good luck everyone.”

Many fans of Five Nights at Freddy’s have waited years for this movie. Fingers crossed that it’s the nightmare we’ve all been hoping for. So far, details about the plot remain scant, but it’s likely that it will center on the premise of the first game. If FNAF does well in theaters, it’s likely we’ll see sequels, as the FNAF universe has expanded significantly since its first game release. Perhaps one day we’ll even get to see the Bite of ’87.
