Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 director Motomu Toriyama spoke to Japanese magazine Famitsu (thanks Andriasang), and hinted at the possibility of an FF13 announcement happening soon.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER (mild)

Final Fantasy XIII-2 displayed a “to be continued” message at the end, which could mean a couple of things really: DLC or XIII-3. Who knows?

The Lightning DLC Square Enix released had people speculating even more.

“The [FF 13-2] Lightning download content had an ending that left a feeling of mystery and hope. The day when the meaning of this will come to light is not too far off” said Toriyama, the big tease.

This year is the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy’s creation, which has brought us a rather tasty treat in the form of a Final Fantasy 7 re-release for PC (no full remake though sadly).

Apparently there’s an event scheduled for August 31st in Shibuya, Tokyo. Will this all tie-in? We’ll see.

In case you had your hopes up for an FF10 remake, don’t hold your breath, when asked about the topic, Shibuya had the following to say:

“Regarding HD conversions, there is a lot to look into, so please wait a bit more,” he said.
