When it came out a couple of years ago, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron turned quite a few heads with its innovative design, spiritual overtones and mixture of 2D and 3D action. Since then, we haven’t heard a peep from the franchise, though that could change fairly soon.
Director and character designer Sawaki Takeyasu has confirmed that his game studio Crim has reacquired the El Shaddai rights from its publisher, Ignition Entertainment. This means that the studio has the rights to make any prequels or sequels to the game for a variety of other platforms like mobile.
Crim has stated that it will work “with the Entertainment Industry” on a potential future business with El Shaddai, though no other details were planned.
We’ll let you know if Takeyasu and Crim have any plans for a new El Shaddai game. In the meantime, we heartily suggest checking out the original on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It definitely looks way different than any other game out there…
