E3 2019 Rumor Roundup

With E3 2019 just around the corner, here are a few of the rumored titles that could be making their big debut.

E3 2019 is right around the corner, and given that it’s one of the biggest events in gaming of the year, gamers are ready to see what surprises studios have in store. From first looks at teased IPs, to brand new reveals, here are a few of the biggest game release rumors we’ve found on the web.

Splinter Cell

The next Splinter Cell game has been rumored for years now and a recent joke by Ubisoft that went viral on Twitter didn’t help slow down that rumor mill. Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot previously mentioned to IGn that they are “anxious” to release the next step in the Splinter Cell franchise, and with the recent confirmation of the Ghost Recon continuation with Breakpoint – that interest has skyrocketed.

Assassin’s Creed Vikings

A massive leak surfaced earlier this month that revealed possible screenshots from the next Assassin’s Creed game slated for 2020. The alleged subject will revolve around Vikings. According to the leak, the next Assassin’s Creed game is codenamed Kingdom, though the actual name alleges to be Ragnarok. According to the report, the main character is an “ally of Ragnar Lodbrok and aids in the formation of the Great Heathen Army.” It also alleges that the map is expansive, branching off into numerous kingdoms that includes Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and more.

Watch Dogs 3

From Easter eggs found within several major Ubisoft IPs, to the timeline matching up with the Watch Dog sequel following the first game’s launch, the continuation of this particular series is highly speculated to be making a big debut during this year’s showcase. With many rumors centering around a London location, Watch Dog fans around the world have been hoping that all of those found Easter eggs were more than just in-game tributes.

The Avengers Project

Square Enix has already teased their highly anticipated Avengers Project, but since that first teaser the news came to a very sudden standstill. Luckily, Square has been a little more upfront with what’s coming down the pipeline, confirming that a big reveal would be happening “soon,” which makes E3 the perfect stage for such an announcement.

Naoki Yoshida’s New IP

Yoshida-san has already confirmed that he is leading Square Enix’s third dev division and that his current project has already completed development, per the Square recruitment site. Whether it’s a new Final Fantasy game or something else entirely is unclear at this time, though many have speculated that it’s a new IP altogether.

Ninja Theory

Ninja Theory made big headlines last year as one of the studios acquired by Microsoft and during that reveal, shared that they had “exciting” things to share in the future. Now that we’re coming up on the year mark of the teaser, E3 2019 is the perfect chance to show off what they’ve been working on. It could be a Hellblade sequel, but more than likely it is something new entirely.

Rocksteady’s Next Game, Suicide Squad?

Rocksteady has been teasing a new DC-oriented game for a while now with a big focus on the Cowls arc. Since then, numerous rumors have been rampant with the most recent leaks suggesting that their upcoming reveal will be centered around Suicide Squad. While many were hoping for a Justice League focus, the Batman Arkham studio looks about ready to share what they’ve been working hard on, which means E3 would be the perfect time to do just that.

Fable

Once the original Fable studio announced their closure, the future of the beloved RPG franchise became entirely unknown. Since then, it has been heavily implied – even by the studio itself – that Playground Games is heading the revival with Fable 4. With Microsoft promising the “biggest show ever” this year with Sony’s absence, this could very well be the year of Fable once more.

PlatinumGames

We know that PlatinumGames has something in the works, something “never done before,” but we don’t know exactly what that title is at this time. The studio has confirmed previously that they were working on a few different projects, helmed by industry professionals, though specifics have been held very close to the developers’ chest.
