Destiny 2 Cross Play Beta Starts May 25

Short, but sweet.

In a recent “This Week at Bungie” an upcoming Cross Play Beta for Destiny 2 was announced. The duration of the Cross Play Beta is short and set smack dab in the middle of the week.

However, participation in the Cross Play Beta should help Bungie with their current goal of shipping Cross Play for Destiny 2 in Season 15. Want to participate in the Cross Play Beta? Here’s what you need to know!

Destiny 2 Cross Play Beta Starts May 25

Good news, all players are invited to participate in the Cross Play Beta for Destiny 2. The Cross Play Beta is set to run from Tuesday, May 25, until Thursday, May 27.

In a post from Bungie, information about the Cross Play Beta including how to participate was provided that runs through everything in detail. The most important information outside of when the Cross Play Beta will be available is where it’ll be available.

According to Bungie, a Vanguard Strikes Cross Play Beta playlist will allow Destiny 2 players to experience the Cross Play Beta. If you don’t want to partake in the Cross Play Beta, it sounds like all you need to do is avoid that playlist.

“In the early hours of Season of the Splicer, a few of you got your first unfiltered taste of Cross Play. Even though this was caused by a bug, we saw players mingling between platforms, which was awesome! That said, we needed to smash that bug like a subscribe button to get our release back on track,” the post from Bungie explains.

“While our current goal is for Cross Play to ship in Season 15, we have a list of things to do before it’s ready, one of which is a Beta starting early next week. Yes, you read that right!

You are formally invited to the Destiny 2 Cross Play Beta. This will serve as a short, sweet, and important moment in the development of this feature. From May 25 through May 27, a unique Vanguard Strikes Cross Play Beta playlist will be available to all players in Destiny 2.

You’ll be matchmade with Guardians playing on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Stadia. As you fight through the enemy waves of Darkness, our teams will be scouring data and performing a multitude of actions to test the integrity of our upcoming Cross Play system.

As a token of our appreciation for your time, any players who complete three strikes in the Vanguard Strikes Cross Play Beta playlist will be rewarded with the unique “Stars Crossed” emblem.”

It sounds like participating in the Cross Play Beta comes with a few perks. Notably, being able to help Bungie make progress on Cross Play for Destiny 2, but also in the ability to earn the “Stars Crossed” emblem as a reward for your participation.

Looking to pass the time before the Cross Play Beta goes live on May 25? The “This Week at Bungie” post runs through a few other things for Destiny 2 players to be aware of, including the Vault of Glass start date and time – May 22 at 10:00 a.m. (PDT).

Overall, we’re looking forward to digging into the Vault of Glass on May 22, and then later giving the Cross Play Beta a try on May 25. While we wait, we’re curious to hear your thoughts on the upcoming Cross Play Beta and other things outlined in the “This Week at Bungie” post
