Death Stranding Creator Hideo Kojima Teases New Character Reveal

Hideo Kojima has been teasing something special for Death Stranding all month, could it be a new character?

Let’s be honest: Everything about Death Stranding is a total mystery. The more trailers and videos we get, the less we know about what the upcoming adventure from Hideo Kojima has to offer. Not that that’s a bad thing! In this day and age, it’s easy to reveal too much too soon, and Kojima-san is being very mysterious about what he wants to share and what he wants players to experience for themselves.

Earlier this month, Kojima-san teased a new trailer review on the horizon, now a new teaser has arrived that hints a possible new character being added to the mix.

One Twitter user noticed Kojima-san’s intentional cropping, making it appear that there could be two more characters being featured in an upcoming announcement. According to the fan-made diagram, it looks like there’s room for two names underneath Norman Reedus, or maybe one long one. Though we’ve seen a lot of Reedus’ character alongside Lindsay Wagner and Mads Mikkelsen, it looks like we could have yet another interesting piece to this puzzle here soon.

Of course, it could just really be a “crappy” (translated from Japanese) crop job and we could very well just be lost in speculation. Admit it, though, the speculation is fun.

Death Stranding is currently slated for a PlayStation 4 release with murmurs of PlayStation 5 support as well, though we don’t have an official release window at this time. As previously mentioned, Death Stranding is a total mystery. Though we’ve had plenty of trailers and character introductions, still – none of us have any idea what the hell is actually going on. Kojima-san is known for his exuberant creative energy and for those that have been involved with the project – or have seen a glimpse themselves – the overall reaction has been one of stunned respect.

With PlayStation gearing up for something special in June outside of E3, it’s likely that the next announcement will be hosted there.
