Now that we've gotten a chance to see actual gameplay thanks to a brand new Death Stranding trailer, fans have a little clearer idea of what the game will offer - even if the story is a complete mystery. Though creator Hideo Kojima is being careful not to reveal too much ahead of launch, he did offer some insight recently as to what the story is about and how it all ties together.

According to the official synopsis, "In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the planet, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of a mass extinction, it's up to Sam Bridges to journey across the ravaged wasteland and save mankind from impending annihilation."

Kojima-san then took to a series of tweets discussing the various aspects of the game and their significance:

He also opened up about how this game will set the standard because it's truly unlike anything else out there on the market:

"Death Stranding is a completely new type of action game, where the player's goal is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society," explains Kojima-san. "All elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the them of "Strand," or connection.

"As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to "bridge" these divisions, and in doing so, create new bonds or "strands" with other players around the globe. Through your experience playing the game, I hope you'll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others."

Death Stranding officially arrives on PlayStation 4 November 8th.
