Dead or Alive 6 Hits a New Sales Milestone
Not dead yet.
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is the re-release of Dead or Alive 6, which originally launched in 2019 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Last Round includes graphical improvements, a dedicated photo mode, and a handful of DLC characters, but is otherwise largely a current-generation port of the original release.
With a new entry in the series currently in development, KOEI TECMO has shared a new sales milestone for Dead or Alive 6.
Dead or Alive 6 Reaches 1 Million Copies Sold
KOEI TECMO has announced that the Dead or Alive 6 “series” has sold one million copies as of June 29, 2026. The publisher refers to it as a series because the figure combines sales of Dead or Alive 6 (2019) and Dead or Alive 6 Last Round (2026).

The publisher announced in April 2026 that the original Dead or Alive 6 had sold over 900,000 copies since its release, meaning Last Round accounts for roughly 100,000 copies sold. There is also a free-to-play version for both releases of Dead or Alive 6 with a limited roster, which, according to KOEI TECMO, had surpassed eight million downloads as of February 2026.
While the Dead or Alive series has remained more niche than juggernauts like Tekken and Street Fighter, it has continued to receive new entries and definitive editions across nearly every console generation. Its popularity has declined over the years, largely due to its heavy focus on DLC costumes and aggressive monetization at the expense of community-requested features.

That said, one million copies sold is still a notable milestone, especially for an entry that received a mixed reception. While KOEI TECMO has made efforts to cement Dead or Alive’s place in the competitive fighting game scene, it hasn’t been a smooth ride, with no appearances in EVO since the fourth mainline entry. Sure, you’d get side tournaments during these larger events, but the series hasn’t been invited to the main stage in a while.
Still, the studio has confirmed that Dead or Alive 6 Last Round will continue to receive updates in the coming months, including a new character to the series and updated visuals for existing stages in their new lighting engine. More than anything, I really hope it will also receive community-requested features such as rollback netcode and crossplay.
With development underway on the next Dead or Alive project, Team Ninja has an opportunity to listen to fan feedback and ensure its next major entry delivers the modern fighting game experience players expect, with robust online and offline features. If things go well, the series could even return to the main EVO lineup for the first time in two decades.
