Control Resonant hits major milestone on Steam in less than a day of release

CONTROL Resonant has barely been out for a day, and Remedy Entertainment’s latest game is already putting up some impressive numbers on Steam.
Following its September 24 launch, CONTROL Resonant climbed to No. 1 on Steam’s U.S. Top Sellers chart, which ranks games based on revenue rather than copies sold. At the time of writing, it sits ahead of titles including Total War: WARHAMMER III, Counter-Strike 2, Warframe, and EA Sports FC 27.
According to SteamDB, CONTROL Resonant reached a peak of 34,345 concurrent Steam players on launch day. That makes its Steam debut considerably larger than its predecessor’s. Control Ultimate Edition reached an all-time Steam peak of just 9,193 players following its 2020 release.
In other words, CONTROL Resonant has already attracted around 3.7 times as many concurrent Steam players as the original game’s lifetime peak. Remedy has clearly succeeded at garnering a cult following that only becomes more prominent as the years go on and players get to experience more of their work.
The game also sits at a pretty impressive 85% positive review rating from more than 2000 reviews according to SteamDB. Remedy games are knowing for being a bit controversial due to their tendency to have an out-of-the-box approach, and CONTROL Resonant received its fair share of critcisms. However, none of this seems to have deterred players from enjoying the game.
It’s an encouraging start for Remedy, particularly after the studio revealed just two days before launch that CONTROL Resonant had surpassed two million wishlists across all platforms.
The launch comes after Remedy’s previous multiplayer title, FBC: Firebreak, struggled to find a sizeable audience on Steam. Firebreak’s lifetime peak stands at just 1,992 concurrent players, meaning Resonant’s launch peak is already more than 17 times larger.
Whether those numbers hold over the coming weekend remains to be seen. But for now, CONTROL Resonant has given Remedy one of its strongest Steam launches yet.
