Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be the next entry in the legendary first-person shooter franchise. With there always been a great deal of interest surrounding what exactly a new Call of Duty game will consist of, there are plenty of individuals paying close attention to what will be packed into Modern Warfare. One of the latest bits of information that has surfaced for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the report that its alleged battle royale game mode will be free-to-play.
According to leaked information from a video by YouTuber TheGamingRevolution, the alleged battle royale game mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently set to be free-to-play when the full game releases on October 25th.
The idea of a free-to-play battle royale is by no means a stretch of the imagination, as titles like Fortnite and Apex Legends have found a great deal of success being a free-to-play battle royale game. The reasoning for this success is that players are much more likely to download and try a game that is free to see if they enjoy it rather than spend the full price for a game they are not sure they will enjoy. This was seen as a major issue for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and its battle royale mode of Blackout, as many players found it hard to spend the full price for a game when they could enjoy a free game like Fortnite.
However, if the report by TheGamingRevolution comes to fruition, Activision saw this issue and is looking to draw in players with a free-to-play battle royale in hopes of selling them on the full product.
Unfortunately, the community will not know for sure if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have a battle royale game mode or if it will be free-to-play until an official announcement is made.
