Call of Duty is going in a very different direction this time around with Black Ops Cold War with the inclusion of character creation for single-player for the first time, in-game dialogue options, and more freedom to play the way you want to. Cold War is going to be so much of a turning point for the franchise, that these new in-game additions will result in multiple endings for the game.
Black Ops Cold War is confirmed to be a direct sequel to the original game and a prequel to Black Ops 2. Raven Software has also been brought in to help with the development of the upcoming shooter to add a fresh new take into the continuing series. One of those changes includes a lot more player freedom than ever before.
Players can customize their own single-player operator in terms of looks, gender, and even their psychological profile. Which choices are made during creation will impact the game itself, including gunplay mechanics and how the world around them perceives the player. Those choices will also impact certain dialogue options available when talking to in-game characters, something that shapes what sort of conclusion players will reach when the end credits roll. Different endings for different choices: for a franchise known for being a straight-forward shooter, it looks like Treyarch is dipping their toes into Ubisoft territory when playing around with certain RPG elements.
The original two Black Ops games in the franchise were hailed for their incredible stories and multiplayer components, so to see returning characters like Woods make their return is exciting – especially for longtime fans.
