Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has definitely earned its right to be 'ultimate.' With so many roster additions that we never saw coming, Nintendo has made it clear that pretty much anything is possible. With Blizzard's Overwatch now officially on the Nintendo Switch, technically seeing someone from the Blizzard shooter in the world of Super Smash isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility especially now that Jeff Kaplan has officially thrown his support in for this cause.
Overwatch director Kaplan himself recently told IGN that he would be thrilled to see an Overwatch hero join the ranks of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. According to Kap, "To the Smash Brothers team, whatever character you want, we love them all. They’re all our babies, you can have any single one of them. We have 31 to choose from. Tracer's our girl, Tracer's our mascot. She'd be my first choice. There's a lot of great runners up. I think a lot of people can immediately see Doomfist gameplay applying to Smash, but if it were up to me, I'd like to see Tracer."
Apparently a lot of people want to see Tracer but really, let's see Winston in there and pit him up against Donkey Kong. Or Soldier 76 against Solid Snake. Or Mei against the Ice Climbers. Honestly, there are so many better picks than Tracer should this move ever actually happy, but hey - we get it, Kaplan. Sometimes you just really want the calvary to be there.
What do you think about Blizzard's proposal? Would you like to see an Overwatch hero make it into the ranks of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Who would be your dream pick? Hit us up with your thoughts, desires, and theories over on Twitter @PrimaGames. Let's talk!
As for Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch, it officially arrives on the hybrid console on October 15, 2019. Are you ready?
