BioShock Infinite DLC Finally Announced, First Part Available Today

It's time to head back to Columbia, and make a stop in Rapture.

As promised by producer Ken Levine some time ago, the three downloadable content packs for BioShock Infinite have finally been revealed. The best part?  You won’t have to wait long for it.

The first of the three packs, Clash In the Clouds, is actually available starting today on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and Steam/PC.  It introduces four new challenge maps – The Ops Zeal, Duke & Dimwit Theater, Raven’s Dome and Emporia Arcade – that will test your battle skills, with 15 waves of enemies to fend off.  You’ll also find new Blue Ribbon Challenges, as well as leaderboards that will challenge your best times.  It costs $5, or 400 Microsoft points.

In addition, the pack includes the Columbia Archaeological Society, an in-game museum with character models, concept art, behind-the-scenes videos and more.  You’ll also have access to new Voxophones and Kinetoscopes, if that’s your thing.

As for the other two DLC packs, they’ll tell an interesting side story called Burial At Sea. It takes place on December 31, 1958, the day before the fall of Rapture from the original BioShock.  Players will once again control hero Booker DeWitt as he seeks out a noir version of Elizabeth. During one part of the DLC, you’ll be able to play as the heroine.

Burial At Sea doesn’t have a release date, but will be available this year.

BioShock Infinite is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
