The ongoing saga of Activision Blizzard’s working conditions and internal response continues with a new message from the company’s CCO, Fran Townsend (who notably issued one of the first internal responses at the beginning of all this challenging the merit of the allegations).
Also posted on Activision Blizzard’s website, the message describes processes and actions the company claims to have taken so far. Perhaps the most notable piece of information is regarding disciplinary action, with Townsend claiming 20 people have been fired, and another 20 facing some sort of internal consequence.

The rest of the statement lists other plans, such as promoting Jen Brewer to vice president of Activision Blizzard’s Ethics and Compliance department. An Employee Relations team has supposedly been formed, and the “Way to Play Heroes” participants (employees who volunteer to assist in relations and advising the E/C team) will be given additional vacation days as compensation.
Much of the statement is bolded where emphasis is intended, such as noting there is a “zero tolerance” in place for investigated misconduct, and that Activision Blizzard is promising to be as transparent as legally possible, including “regular aggregate data” following any investigations. This is only the latest in a long line of developments following the California DFEH’s lawsuit filed against the company earlier this year. A group of employees established under the name “A Better ABK” has been engaging and keeping people informed on social media, with demands that go much further than all of the above.
