Saints Row 4 Dropping the Hilarious Carnage On August 20th

Volition and Deep Silver are teaming up for yet another triumphant run through Steelport.

The gangster lifestyle continues to live on, through the magic of high-powered weaponry, googly-eye helmets and, of course, sexual references.

Saints Row 4, the long-awaited follow-up to the best selling 2011 release Saints Row: The Third, will be hitting stores on August 20th, according to Deep Silver and its developers at Volition.  The game will hit PC, as well as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

“Deep Silver and Volition present the climactic chapter of the saga that changed all the rules and blew the minds of a generation,”  Yep, the final chapter.  Ah, well, what else can they do from here, anyway?

The trailer, which you can see here, features flashes of brilliance throughout, from flying through the city streets to plenty of shootouts – and a reference to junk, obviously.  Oh, and letters.

Though the plot hasn’t been fully unveiled yet, the game will feature the rise to power of the Saints into the presidency, so you can guess that all hell breaks loose across the country.  Between gangsters, cops and aliens (from the Enter the Dominatrix chapter that was unveiled last year), you can bet they’ll have their hands full, between telekinesis, sports cars, and plenty of guns.

We’ll be getting a better look at SR4 at PAX East next week, but for now, watch the trailer and dream of insanity.  Because that’s what this is going to be.
