E3 is just one month away and Xbox is gearing up for their most exciting showcase yet! Fans of the Gears of War franchise got their first look at Gears 5 during last year’s event and the team over at Microsoft has already teased much more to show off for the month of June. While we don’t have an official release date reveal quite yet, a leak just gave us our possible first look at a launch date and cover art reveal slated for E3 2019.
The leak comes from the site Generation Xbox, a site that found the leak thanks to a recent Taiwanese ratings board listing. According to the info found, the new Gears title is slated for September 10th, though that has yet to be confirmed at this time. The release date was quickly removed when the leak went viral, though we know we will be getting an official reveal during Xbox’s showcase, so the truth of the leak can be verified then.
In addition to the September release date, we also have our first look at the alleged artwork for the cover as well:
While this all looks exciting, a ratings board doesn’t equate to official confirmation. As with all rumors and leaks, take it with a grain of salt until Microsoft itself reveals the true release date.
We’re definitely excited to see Kait back in action and witness an entirely new side to the dynamic character. According to Microsoft, “Humanity’s reliance on technology has become their downfall and enemies are uniting to wipe out all survivors. As Kait, journey back to uncover the origins of the Locust, and fight with your squad to protect what’s left.”
