Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Release Date: March 7

Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon series takes the next evolutionary step with the ambitious Wildlands. Set in Bolivia, this open world shooter casts you as a member of an elite special forces unit known as The Ghosts. Your mission? Infiltrate a powerful drug cartel and assassinate their members in a variety of ways, relying on stealth or brute force to complete each mission. A beautiful world, drop in/drop out co-op and plenty of gun fights make Wildlands intriguing.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Release Date: April 7

The original Bulletstorm stood out for its over-the-top arcade-style mayhem, where the game rewards you points based on how creative you are with your kills. Yank a guy towards you, fill him with lead and then kick the sorry fool into a cactus. Well, now the game is back for newer systems, and there’s enough content to justify replaying this adrenaline-charged shooter, beginning with 4K support for the PC and PS4 Pro. Beyond that, the game comes with an improved frame rate for smoother play, as well as a new Overkill mode where after beating the campaign, you then gain access to every weapon and skill shot unlocked from the beginning. The best feature? Pre-order Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition and you’ll be able to play the game as 90s video game icon Duke Nukem, with one-liners recorded by longtime Duke voice actor, Jon St. John. Come get some!

Days Gone

Platform: PS4

Release Date: TBA

Sony invites you to survive the apocalypse in its mutant/zombie shooter, Days Gone. Playing as a biker/bounty hunter, you explore the Pacific Northwest scavenging for supplies to craft life-saving items and using different weapons to escape hordes of monsters. In addition to looking gorgeous, one of the coolest features in Days Gone is the sheer number of enemies that the game is able to display on-screen at once; definitely reminiscent of the film, World War Z. We don’t know if Days Gone is a lock for 2017, but Sony will hopefully make some official announcements in the New Year.

Sniper Elite 4

Platform: PS4, Xbox One

Release Date: February 14

We love everything about Sniper Elite 3, particularly the graphic x-ray kills that show bullets passing through bones and internal organs. All of this gore and then some returns in Sniper Elite 4, where you can literally stab a guy’s brain. Melee combat looks brutal, but end of the day, it’s all about lining up a Nazi from a few hundred feet away, taking the shot and then watching the destruction unfold. Of course, the fact that the game takes place in the beautiful Italian peninsula, circa World War 2, is an added bonus.

Crackdown 3

Platform: Xbox One

Release Date: TBA

We spent so many hours playing the first Crackdown game for Xbox 360. Now the series jumps to Xbox One, complete with technology that lets you destroy almost everything within the game world. Yes, there will be lots of shooting, but also humongous explosions that tear through buildings and vehicles. Bring it on!

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare DLC

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Release Date: 2017

Infinite Warfare came out this past November, but Activision will sprinkle the game’s DLC throughout 2017. This means more maps and, most importantly, new chapters in the Zombies experience. The first DLC comes out on January 31 on PS4 (with Xbox One and PC roughly a month later). Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Sabotage will come with Rave in the Redwoods, a zombie map that takes place at a summer camp in the 90s, and draws inspiration from different slasher films. We’ll tell you how to unlock the Easter eggs in Rave in the Redwoods, along with tips to survive the undead, shortly after the DLC hits the PS4.
