Immediately when you create your character and figure out your difficulty settings, you’ll find the online play setup at the end of the menu. Your options are to either stay unconnected or connect, which, if you choose the latter, will automatically link you to the internet. Just make sure you have a stable internet connection!

Something you may wonder at this point, though, is whether you can turn on your network features later on. If you initially chose unconnected but want to turn them on later, you can head into your ingame menu to System, pick Settings and scroll to the very bottom. You’ll find Network Features, which you can turn on and off to your heart’s content.

After briefly waiting for the connection to finish, you’ll have access to online features like Spirits of the Fallen after beginning Chapter 4. These spirits represent spots where other players and foes have fallen, leaving behind items and EXP for you to collect.
