A great day for iPhone and iPad strategy

Total War Battles: Shogun has arrived in the iTunes store for $6.99 on the iPad or iPhone, with an Android version to follow soon, say Sega.

Shogun was created by developer Creative Assembly’s digital team, built for touch-screen devices such as the iPad, so it’s no clunky port. It’s also been designed with the iPad 3’s mega high resolution in mind, so it should look lovely.

The game features a single-player campaign mode and two-player multiplayer on the same device. It’s not quite the Total War fans know and love but hey, it’s mobile, it’s still real-time as ever, and it actually includes animations lifted from the PC Shogun game.
