How to Do the Sonic Mania All Medals Cheat

Sonic Mania is such an intense tribute to the classic Sonic the Hedgehog on Genesis experience, even the cheat codes are similar. If you want to unlock everything in the game you have a few steps to go through, but that’s what you have us for. Here’s how to do the All Medals cheat, which will give you, well, everything.

On title screen press [up up down down up up up up] and you’ll hear a sound if you did it right. This unlocks debug mode, but you have to go into the game’s options menu and enable it. Once you have that on, go to the file select screen and hold Y, then press A. That’s for Switch, so adjust buttons accordingly.

This will take you to the debug menu, which gives you all kinds of things to tinker with. But what we want is the sound test, which is how the actual cheat codes are entered. If you’re new here and think that’s weird, well, you’re right. But that’s how cheats worked in Sonic’s Genesis days.

So you’re going to take the following numbers, and pick the matching songs on sound select. You have to choose each one and start the song for it to count. First, enter [1 9 7 9 0 8 1 1] and listen again for a sound effect. Then enter [1 9 8 9 0 5 0 1] and once again, a sound effect will chime for your successful code entry.

Finally, use the level select to start a level, then pause and exit. You’ll get a deluge of unlocking notifications as if you suddenly got every gold medal in Sonic Mania. Wild, huh? This will give you things like different options for Sonic’s controls, duplicate characters in co-op and more.
