Overwatch 2 & Diablo IV Will Not be Releasing In 2021

Maybe 2022.

During Activision-Blizzards fourth-quarter earnings call today, the company stated that both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 will not be part of its 2021 financials. While this isn’t a huge surprise, it does seem weird for Overwatch 2 specifically.

Overwatch 2 & Diablo IV Will Not be Releasing In 2021

The game, first revealed back in November of 2019, hasn’t received any sort of concrete details or fanfare. It seemed like it wasn’t that far off, but it’s looking more and more like Overwatch 2 will be a 2022 game.

As for Diablo 4, the game is relatively non-existent. Outside of a few developer updates and a CG trailer from a few years ago, the Diablo teams itself has been staffing up over the past few years. Hopefully, we will learn more about these two titles this year, with a focus on release in 2022.

Blizzard has had a tough go after its poor performance of Warcraft 3: Reforged, so it needs to make sure it gets both of these projects right. Fans will have Diablo immortal to tide them over this year (hopefully?)

As for Overwatch 2, the original game is still receiving event updates, with the Lunar New year event starting today. Hopefully, that’s enough for fans right now.

We will see more of what Blizzard has in store for fans in the next few weeks at Blizzcon Online which is February 19 and 20.
