Cyberpunk 2077 Ditches Wall Jumping

Leave wall jumping to Titanfall, CD Projekt RED doesn’t feel it fits the way they wanted it to in Cyberpunk 2077. Like with any game, there are thousands and thousands of ideas brought to the table but not all of them will make it into the final cut. One such feature was wall jump0ing, something that was in the cards initially but later cut due to the nature of the game itself.

Level designer Max Pears recently sat down with Gamereactor to talk about Cyberpunk 2077 and what sort of features that they loved that ended up being left behind. When asked about this particular mechanic, Pears responded “Ah, the wall running. That is something that we removed due to design reasons, but there’s still going to be a lot of flexibility in how you move, that’s for sure.”

The world of Night City is going to be massive, so big, in fact, that there is essentially nothing that players can’t explore. The team has mentioned in the past that every building can be entered and explored and every NPC will be able to interact on meaningful levels. No annoying repeating NPC lines either, which is always a plus!

Cyberpunk 2077 is CD Projekt RED’s biggest venture yet and though it has been delayed several times for quality reasons, there is every bit of faith that they can pull off this scope in a way that fans can expect based off of previous quality promises and delivery.

The upcoming neon RPG adventure will task players to step into the role of V with a highly customizable way of play due to the influence derived from the original tabletop game this is adapting. Players can be the badass they’ve always wanted to be while encountering hundreds of characters to meet and some to even fall in love with.

We’ll be learning even more about the upcoming game with new episodes of their Night City showcase with the first episode having revealed tons of new content, including more on the badlands and the above linked anime.

The new release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is November 19th. You can learn more about the journey thus far with our game hub here, as well as on Twitter @PrimaGames for more Cyberpunk 2077 goodness and gaming news.
