How to Pre-Load The Last of Us Part II

The Last of Us Part II is officially available for digital pre-load and will take up a fair amount of space on your PlayStation 4. So you'd better get started!

With its release only a few days away players can now begin pre-loading The Last of Us Part II onto their PlayStation 4. Since the download size is quite large, players who have pre-ordered a digital copy of the game will likely want to go ahead and pre-load the game onto their console ahead of release. Plus, you’ll probably want to start playing the game as soon as it’s available!

The Last of Us Part II – How to Pre-Load

If you’re not familiar with the process, digital pre-loads typically become available for games a few days before launch to give everyone an ample amount of time to get the game downloaded ahead of release. So with The Last of Us Part II releasing on June 19, it’s time to go ahead and pre-load the game onto your PlayStation 4. 

  1. To pre-load The Last of Us Part II, follow the steps below.
  2. Open up your PlayStation 4 Game Library
  3. Navigate to the “Purchased” tab
  4. Select The Last of Us Part II
  5. Press “Download”

It’s also worth noting that if you plan to pre-load The Last of Us Part II, you’re going to need to free up a bit of space on your PlayStation 4, as the install size is over 70 GB. This is pretty standard for AAA titles, but it’s still a significant amount of hard drive space, so you might need to do some reorganizing.

While the game is certainly a big one, there was actually more content planned that had to be cut, according to the game’s co-writer Halley Gross. “The hardest part was cutting out the content, as there were a lot of things that didn’t make it into the final game.” Despite the cuts, there is still plenty of stuff for players to do at release, but there will not be a multiplayer mode.
