Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Won’t Be As Big As Odyssey

For those worried that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be a little bit too overwhelming, don't be - it won't be as big as the previous two games.

For those wondering how big Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be and if it will be as large as Odyssey, a game that many felt was almost overwhelmingly massive, the team over at Ubisoft confirmed that it will be smaller than the previous two launches. Origins and Odyssey both were massive games teeming with side quests and while many enjoyed the added exploration, others reported feeling very overwhelmed.

The upcoming Viking adventure from Ubisoft promises a thrilling narrative with more RPG elements than ever before, something that was a huge hit with the previous title in the franchise. That being said, it will also appeal to a wider range of players because the studio has confirmed it won’t be as massive as Odyssey and Origins, instead focusing more on the main narrative instead of quite so many errant quests.

Through the course of the franchise’s history, Assassin’s Creed has seen much shorter experiences, wildly massive journies and all lengths in-between, which can make predicting future expectations a little difficult. Luckily, Ubisoft’s head of communications, Malek Teffaha, provided some clarification as to what fans can expect in terms of length.

In a translation provided by VG24/7, Teffa mentioned that Valhalla “won’t be the longest or biggest game in the series. They addressed criticism on this one.” Instead of length, they’re focusing on what they do with it (there’s a joke?), this time having players focus more on exploring major landmarks that have important places in history – like the Stonehenge!

While it won’t be the biggest or the longest, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla sure looks incredible. From being able to customize not only our male or female character but also buildings and settlements, there is also a newly added raid mechanic as well in addition to dual shields, the return of the hidden blade, and so much more! Plus, Eivor – male or female – looks amazing and while it’s not the Japanese samurai adventure some were hoping for, this series has proven it still has a lot left in it for future launches so never lose hope!

As for the game itself, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will launch this holiday season on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Google Stadia with optimization also set for the next generation of gaming.
