Final Fantasy VII Remake Delayed

We’ve got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that the Final Fantasy VII remake has been delayed, as confirmed by Square Enix. The good news is that the delay isn’t too long, which means we’ll still be able to get our hands on Sephir … er, I mean the game before Summer begins.

In a new message posted up on the official Final Fantasy VII remake Twitter page, the producer Yoshinori Kitase had this to say regarding the news: 

“We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of the Final Fantasy VII remake and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.

“We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.”

While a delay is obviously sad, this is a smart move for Square Enix. In this day and age where crunch time is very front and center in terms of conversation in addition to the practice of rushing games before they are done becoming far more common, this is a solid way to protect the team and fans alike.

Final Fantasy VII Remake makes its official debut on April 10, 2020. For even more about the game:
