The excitement surrounding The Last of Us Part II is at an all-time high thanks to the recent reveals of the game’s official release date and confirmation that fan-favorite character Joel will be making a return in the upcoming sequel. However, one of the newest developments regarding The Last of Us Part II has in store for players has been met with mixed emotions. This development concerns the inclusion of a multiplayer section for the title.
Is There Multiplayer in The Last of Us Part II?
According to a statement provided by the game’s co-director of Anthony Newman to Polygon, The Last of Us Part II will not have any kind of multiplayer experience for players and will only be single-player. This a significant change from the first entry in the franchise which had a dedicated online multiplayer aspect where players could battle against each other on teams.
Naughty Dog published an official statement addressing the lack of multiplayer in its new game on its official Twitter account which can be found embedded below for your viewing convenience.

Unfortunately for those who enjoyed the online game mode of the first game, the sequel will not be offering anything of the sort when it launches on February 21st, 2020. The Last of Us Part II is expected to have one of the most awe-inspiring single-player experiences the gaming world has seen in some time. This dedication to delivering a revolutionary single-player story makes the lack of a multiplayer portion not too surprising.
