Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has no proper swimming in it despite it having a few underwater sections. Instead, you first need to learn to use water propulsion, then you need to learn to sink. It’s an odd system and one that requires you to farm for the first ability. Thankfully, the second one is a guaranteed drop, so as long as you know where to go, you can’t miss it.

That’s why you need to know how to open underwater chests in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, and that’s what we are going to teach you.

To open these deep-sea treasures, you need to acquire the Deep Sinker Shard, which you can claim after a boss fight in the Hidden Desert area of the game. We won’t spoil the fight itself, because that would be mean. The important thing to know is that you can grab the Shard after the fight, in a previously sealed area.

After journeying through the Hidden Desert, you’ll eventually come across an elevator. If you ride up you’ll see a strange barrier of light blocking one of the rooms, the Deep Sinker Shard is found within that room. To remove the barrier, you need to head to the top of the elevator and fight the boss there. Only then will you be able to access the closed-off room and grab your prize. Now all you have to do is walk up to a chest underwater and open it like normal.
