The original God of War creator David Jaffe took to his Twitter recently to reveal some exciting news from the esteemed game designer. Having created/directed the God of War franchise before the PlayStation 4 exclusive’s arrival, Jaffe is definitely a name a lot of gamers have been wanting to see back in the limelight. It looks like he’s putting down the godlike adventures for a different sort of gaming journey, one perfect for horror fans.
Though he was careful not to reveal too many details about his ongoing project, he did mention that the horror game would be single-player and it’s something that he believes will be the “next big thing.”
“I’m designing/writing something new these days,” mentioned Jaffe in his recent string of Twitter posts. “It’s a single player, horror game that is attempting something new with in-game storytelling and I am in love with it. I have shown NO ONE what I’m working on. And thus I have no funding and no interest in the project.
“When I DO show the world,it MAY be that everyone hates it and no one wants to make it. Or it may become the next big thing. At this stage, I don’t get to know.”
He went on to mention that the “lack of knowing” has been stressful and scary, though he was quick to assure fans that he’s excited and the process has been equal parts fun as well.
With Cory Barlog taking over the God of War franchise with immense success, we’re excited to see Jaffee expand those creative wings even more into something new, something exciting. Though we don’t have any concrete story details at this time, we do know he’s gearing up for something special for fans and we honestly can’t wait to learn more.
