An article from Games Radar has revealed that upcoming Capcom Survival Horror sequel Resident Evil 5 will include an online co-op mode, enabling players to experience the game with a friend.
THERE ARE SOME SLIGHT SPOILERS BELOW
The original feature from Games Radar has been removed from the site, as this was probably a leak. Apparently the game will feature a lady mercenary chum for Chris Redfield, who will be controlled by AI in single player and by the second player in the online mode.
The Mercenaries mode featured in Resident Evil 4 will also be back for the new release. It’ll be improved with a cover system that allows you to back against a wall and lean to shoot around a corner. Also new to the game is the ability to duck down to avoid being shot with the right analogue stick.
The game is set in a fictional African country, apparently near a series of active volcanoes that runs though Eritrea, Ethiopia and Kenya. The area is where the much-feared virus that has turned people into zombies originated. We’ll be seeing returning characters such as Sherry Birkin, Alber Wesker and some of the game will take place through the medium of playable flashbacks
The game is set to be released in 2009 though Capcom says it’ll be in financial year 2008, which means it should be between January 1st and March 21 next year.
