Dota 2’s Dark Carnival Act 1 Ends and Teases Several New Skins for the Next Act
Where are the Arcanas?
Dota 2 events rarely come, well, compared to other live-service games, but when they come up with something, it is always a massive event filled with lore, changes, a progression system, and, more importantly, great cosmetics.
Today, Dota 2’s Dark Carnival event reaches the start of the final chapter of Act 1, and for some who habitually play the game, it is already over. However, it is the first act, so players who have already progressed to the last part have already seen what’s coming, and it is more automaton skins.
The Conclusion to Act 1 Chapter 3’s Dark Carnival Event

Throughout the dialogue from the Engine Car, which is the last part of the Train, you have seen Cogliacci, the brother and rival of the Ringmaster. At the end, Cogliacci disposes of the Ringmaster and explains that the Ringmaster’s slow capture of heroes, meant for performing at his circus, is actually a way for the Dark Old Ones to enter the world through these captured heroes, acting as vessels for them.
Now, it is clear the Cogliacci’s plan is to have them take over the world to torture everyone, but he did make a deal, which isn’t clear yet.
After all these cutscenes, Cogliacci unveils his first set of demons, as you can see in the image above.
There are five figures on top, which can easily be deduced from their silhouettes as the following from left to right:
- Tidehunter
- Lich
- Sven
- Pugna
- Lifestealer
They all look like automaton figures, which are most likely to be the next five sets coming to Act 2. In Act 1, we already have Axe, Legion Commander, Oracle, Morphling, and Bristleback, along with the Treasure of Wonders set.
Judging from the previous events of Dota 2, there should be more sets coming along with these five new Automaton heroes. As we slowly approach Dota 2’s biggest tournament this August, The International, these new sets, treasures, and Acts will surely come very soon.
