After a fairly successful open beta, Cold Symmetry has finally announced the release date for Mortal Shell 2, and it’s coming out sooner than expected. They’ve also detailed the pricing, its different editions, and the bonuses that come with each. Here is everything you need to know before you pre-order.

Mortal Shell 2 Devout Edition

The Devout Edition for Mortal Shell 2 comes with the following content:

  • Obsidian Skin Pack
  • 72 Hours of Advanced Access

For an extra $10, you’re essentially getting an additional skin for each of the eight playable shells, and while these look nice, I don’t think the pricing difference warrants it. There is no additional gameplay content, any digital art or soundtrack, and the main draw is the early access incentive, which lets you play three days early.

I’d save the $10 and just play on the regular release date unless you really like the skins.

Mortal Shell 2 Revered Edition

In addition to the two digital releases, there’s also a PS5-exclusive physical edition for Mortal Shell 2 called the “Revered Edition,” which comes with the following content:

  • Mortal Shell 2 Collector’s Box and Physical Game.
  • Steelbook.
  • Fine Art Prints.
  • Artbook with 100+ pages.
  • Pre-Order Bonus Skins: Skeletal and Obsidian Harbinger.
  • In-game cosmetics exclusive to the Revered Edition (to be revealed later).

Compared to the Devout Edition, I think the physical Revered Edition has a lot more going for it. I can always appreciate a meaty artbook, and the steelbook artwork is actually really nice. With physical games ending in 2028, having any reason to buy a physical copy, especially if it’s not super expensive, is a plus in my book.
