Mortal Shell 2 Console Beta

The Mortal Shell 2 beta is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it’s the same version as the one currently available on Steam.

You can experience the first three hours of the game, and while progress doesn’t carry over to the full release, you can skip the prologue section when the game launches later this month.

Additionally, if you spend 30 minutes in the Mortal Shell 2 beta, you’ll unlock the Flayed Harbinger, an exclusive cosmetic reward that will be available in the full release. Naturally, this is a neat little incentive to try out the title and earn a reward in the meantime.

If you’re a PC player, don’t worry; this cosmetic reward isn’t exclusive to any single platform, but it does require you to spend that half an hour in the beta. Keep in mind that the Flayed Harbinger skin isn’t available in the beta itself but will be available in the full release.

Mortal Shell 2 Release Date

Mortal Shell 2 is launching on PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PS5 on August 20, 2026.

I had a blast playing through the beta on PC and think Mortal Shell 2 is already significantly better than the original, which feels clunky by comparison. The art direction, especially, does a fantastic job of pulling you into the world, and the early sections give you a good idea of what to expect from the overall feel of the game and enemy aggression.

Learn how you can start playing the full release a bit early, the pricing on each platform, and what comes in each edition of the upcoming soulslike RPG launching very soon.
